What is the activity performed by West Austin Tamil Academy?

Teaching Tamil language to community kids aged from 4 to 14

1) Organizing the classrooms.

2) Ordering books and distribution

3) Teacher Allocation, Coordination

4) Classroom Teaching of Tamil language

5) Tracking Attendance, syllabus

6) Conducting Tests and uploading grades.

7) Conducting Annual day, Graduation/Awards distribution.

Who conducts the activity?

Parents Volunteer as Teachers, Admins, Management

Roles are: Principal, Vice Principal, Attendance Officer, ITA/CTA Affiliation officer, Teacher Management, Enrichment Officer 

Where is the activity conducted?

We rented a Church for 4 hours a week. It is located at 14820 Hamilton Pool Rd, Austin, TX 78738. Classes are held only on Saturday 3pm.

What percentage of your total time is allocated to the activity?

1) Organizing the classrooms: 15mins beginning of every class

2) Ordering books and distribution: 10 hours start of every year

3) Teacher Allocation, Coordination:  5 hours at the beginning of academic year and 1 hour every week

4) Classroom Teaching of Tamil language of Total 32 classes Annually: 2 hours Per class, 8 Parallel Classes

5) Tracking Attendance, syllabus: 30mins every week

6) Conducting Tests and uploading grades: 2 hours X 8 classes once in 4 weeks

7) Conducting Annual day, Graduation/Awards distribution: 10hours one a year

8) Managing LLC, Liability Insurance, Accounting/Expense tracking, tax filing: Average 1 hour every week 

How is the activity funded (for example, donations, fees, etc.) and what percentage of your overall expenses is allocated to this activity?

We collect $250 (for the whole year) from every student. The whole amount will be spent on Rent, Books, School operating expenses, annual day expenses, Food/snacks, Liability Insurance, LLC Fees. Any residual will be carried over for next year.

How does the activity further your exempt purposes?

All the teachers and Admins are all volunteers. They are not paid any money. All the money collected spent wholly for the expenses. We think 501c(3) Tax exemption will allow us to run the school without collecting more fees from our students
